About Cycling Soul

Practical, friendly cycling advice for people who love riding and people who are just getting started.

Who we are

Cycling Soul is a cycling website built for riders of every level. We started with a simple belief: riding a bike should feel like freedom, not like a test you have to pass. Whether you are wobbling down your first quiet street, commuting to work or building up to your first long weekend ride, we want to help you enjoy every kilometre.

The internet is full of cycling advice that is either too technical for beginners or too vague to be useful. We try to land in the middle with plain language, honest explanations and guides that you can actually follow.

What we write about

  • Getting started: choosing a bike, bike fit, first rides and basic skills
  • Gear: honest, comparison-style guides to shoes, shorts, socks and other kit
  • Training and fitness: how to build stamina, understand FTP and ride stronger
  • Health and body: weight loss, muscles worked and what cycling does for your body
  • Everyday riding: safety, maintenance, nutrition and staying motivated

If you are new, a great place to begin is our guide to training for cycling, or have a look at our recommendations for the best cycling shoes.

How we create our content

Every article is written to be clear, useful and original. We research each topic, compare options on the things that actually matter to riders, and explain our reasoning so you can decide for yourself. When we recommend products, we focus on comfort, durability, value and how well something suits the kind of riding you do.

We aim to keep our content accurate and up to date. If you spot a mistake or something that has changed, please tell us and we will take a look.

How the site is funded

Cycling Soul is free to read. We earn a small commission when you buy certain products through links on our site, at no extra cost to you. This helps us keep producing guides without charging for them. Our recommendations are never for sale. You can read the details on our Affiliate Disclosure page.

Our promise to you

  • We write for riders first, not for search engines or brands.
  • We say clearly when a link may earn us a commission.
  • We will not claim miracle results from any bike, product or training plan.
  • We will keep learning, and we will update our guides when we do.
